JEMINA | FOUNDER OF HAPOCLUB
I am a retired track runner, the creator of Hapo and coaching HapoRunners.
I started Hapoclub because I wanted to find lightness, softness and joy in running again after my own track career. After years of structured and goal-driven training, I felt the need to rediscover running because I still wanted it to be a part of my daily life.
Hapoclub was found in February 2023 from the idea of turning an individual sport into a team sport.
Another strong motivation was the desire to do something concrete to counteract the loneliness and drop in hobbies after the Covid years. Especially for young adults and adults, it can be surprisingly hard to find a sense of belonging, meet new people, and discover spaces where you feel genuinely welcome without pressure or expectations. Hapoclub was created to be exactly that kind of space, grounded in openness, approachability, and a come-as-you-are mindset.
Next there came a crew behind, and together we started developing Hapoclub even further. Today, our mission has grown even bigger: to make an impact and move running and sports culture forward. We want to make running accessible to more people and play an active role in shaping a more open, inclusive, and inspiring endurance sports community. Alongside this, we are home to our race group, HapoRunners. A group of dedicated athletes who train with purpose and perseverance toward distances ranging from 10 kilometers to the marathon.
During the summer season, we move over 120 runners every week, offering activities ranging from trail running to track workouts. No matter the background or experience, there is space to grow, train, and enjoy running as a community.
Our core activity is the weekly Tuesday Run, which takes place every Tuesday of the year starting at 18:30. We run in two groups led by our pacers: an 8 km run at a pace of 7:30 min/km and a 10 km run at a pace of 6 min/km. Both groups start and finish at the same location, together. That sense of togetherness is at the heart of everything we do.
